How reliable is a home color palette check?

Our community theatre asked me to organize accessories for an upcoming historical play. The available scarves share the same depth but differ between rose and muted terracotta. During rehearsal, the copper-toned option seems to suit the actor very well. In lobby daylight, however, it casts an orange reflection beneath the chin. The rose scarf looks restrained on stage but clearer and calmer near the windows. The costumes are borrowed, which rules out dyeing, cutting, or expensive alternatives. I kept the camera position and white balance fixed for every comparison shot. The images confirm the shift, yet choosing the relevant lighting remains difficult. I checked this color analysis quiz page for a repeatable comparison method. The comparison method helped isolate temperature from simple lightness or darkness. We may choose rose and soften its flatness through the existing lighting design. That choice would avoid the orange cast during the lobby scene after intermission. Has anyone working in theatre solved this kind of warm-versus-cool lighting conflict? I mainly need a repeatable production choice rather than an absolute color label.
