Keeping familiar clothes while growing out gray

My current drawing assignment involves making three versions of one character, with only the hair color changing between the finished images. The character wears a blue shirt against a muted background, and I want each version to remain readable at a small size. My first options are dark brown, light copper, and silver, chosen because they create noticeably different relationships with the existing colors. For background vocabulary, I saved a link from my reading about a personal color test as a starting point for further reading. I would like the terminology to help with critique, while leaving room for the intentional color exaggeration that illustration often uses. I need a way to discuss visual emphasis, since a hair color that looks interesting close up may dominate the smaller image. What sequence would you suggest for a side by side review, a value check, and a short critique from other students? I would appreciate a few specific critique questions that keep the discussion focused on this drawing instead of general preferences about hair.
