How reliable is a home color palette check?

I recently began listing a box of older garments on a modest resale account. I labeled a blouse as rust, but a buyer's device displayed something closer to berry. No sale was lost, though the color label suddenly seemed careless. Calibration hardware would exceed the value of much of this inherited stock. I work near a bright window and include a neutral card in every first frame. This routine makes editing less arbitrary, and subtle undertones are still difficult to describe without sounding overly certain. I used this soft winter color palette page to build a small vocabulary list. I treat palette labels as comparison terms rather than personal recommendations. I want descriptions to state the obvious hue before adding a restrained warm or cool modifier. A final reference image will show both the fabric and the unchanged grey card. The method offers context while acknowledging differences between screens and lighting. Could experienced resale sellers share a simple method for consistent color descriptions? Suggestions for handling colors that shift between berry and brown are especially welcome.
